Foals are arriving! Della delivered a curly palomino horse colt with a handsome blaze and no white socks! He is sired by "DCC Vegas" a curly stud that is now in France. He was born April 2nd and of course his mom timed it to be during a freezing blizzard! The snow was flying sideways. Luckily my wonderful husband had made a shelter under the hay barn!
He was born with a contracted tendon, which straightened out within a couple of days. His one front leg was crooked so we kept him confined for a month, then had surgery to straighten it out. The vet thinks it was caused from being cramped when in his mom. Then we had to keep him clean and dry for another month! It was a very wet spring so I cleaned stalls and moved pens for about a month! NOT a good start!
